splurge vs bargain - mascara edition

One of the most important products for any girl rather they barely wear makeup or do a full face of makeup every day is mascara. Personally I love having long lashes and I've went through literally everything from high end to drugstore to find a few good mascaras to avoid wearing fake lashes. So the first product I found was the LancĂ´me drama mascara which you can get a Sephora or shoppers drug mart for 35$, because it was considered a high end brand I had high expectations for this product sadly it really let down. The first thing I hated about this was the smell, it was way too strong it would give me a headache every time  I would use it Also it would make my lashes super clumpy.

Best Drugstore Mascara No. 7: Maybelline New York VolumInstead of wasting your money on this mascara I would really recommends buying the l’oreal telescopic mascara you could buy this at shoppers drug mart and Walmart I love this mascara because the brush is really nice and keeps your lashes for getting clumpy and sticking together to add that not too much product comes out with that being said it lasted me about 6 months before it started going dry which was okay because this mascara is only 11$ which is super affordable! Another cheap mascara that I love is the Maybelline New York Volume  Express Pumped Up! Colossal Mascara, its smooth application and ability to lengthen lashes beautifully I’m obsessed with this one, I always get compliments on my lashes when I wear this mascara and did I mention its only 7$ at any shoppers drug mart and Walmart. with that being said high end products arent always better than the drugstore products.

splurge vs bargain- PRIMERS, PRIMERS, PRIMERS!!!

A very important part of my daily makeup routine is applying a good primer, I say this because there are so many benefits from using a primer before applying your makeup such as your makeup will stay on longer, reduces redness, and lessens acne appearance. Perhaps  finding the right primer for your  can be kind of tricky depending what type of skin you have that's why most girls will spend 30$ on a primer expecting to get the best results but this isn't exactly the best thing to do.

Being a girl will really sensitive and oily skin I've been through a thousand different brands trying to find one that fits my skin type I finally decided to buy  the porefessional by benefit one of the reasons why I bought this product because of all the great reviews I’ve heard about, and at first I loved this product because it left my skin feeling silky smooth but after a few uses I didn't really see any improvements and my pores still looked the same and I also noticed throughout the day it would actually make my T tone more oily than usual , this product didn't live up to its name at all. I decided to downgrade and try finding something similar for a lower price I ended up buying boots number 7 primer which you can find at any drugstore in your area or online on their website.  The first thing that I loved about this product was that it was only 17$ compared at 30$ also that it's hypoallergenic so it didn't make me breakout and it hardly made me oily, it didn’t make my skin feel dry at all I was really satisfied with this product and I use it every day . the only downside to this primer is that its small it’s only 20ml but it’s very affordable so it’s not big  of a problem since it works wonders. With that being said I highly recommended this primer for granted best results!

splurge vs bargain - highlighter eddition

One of the biggest trends at the moment is highlighters and no I'm not talking about the neon colored sharpie markers, highlighters to essentially make you glow! Girls everywhere are spending tremendous amount of money to buy products like the becca highlighters and
the new glow kit that ABH just released and the benefit liquid highlighters. These high end highlighters sell at 20-90$ each depending the brand. Even though these highlighter are too die for the cost are ridiculous, so I decided to do my research and to test a few cheaper products similar to those I already mentioned and I actually found a few products that were almost 3 times cheaper and worked just as go as the high end brands ones.

The first product I tried was the elf color stick that comes in two different colors persimmon and spotlight, I fell in love with this product the first time I used it, it's so easy to apply and it's very similar to the benefit high beam highlighter, this product is great for people with oily sensitive skin this product did not make me breakout either. I also loved that this product is so small it’s a  perfect on the go product.  Another I loved about the elf highlighter was that it was only 1$ compared to the high end one which sells for 27$. I'll definitely be using the elf highlighter for now on!

The next products I tested out was NYX  liquid illuminator which u can find at your local drugstore (rexall) . One of the reasons why I was exacted to use this product was because its liquid also the color looked so pretty it would really compliment any skin tone. I found that this product was very similar to the becca champagne pop highlighter which I absolutely love did I mention the NYX illuminate was only 7$

splurge vs bargain - eyeshadow eddition

Being a girl who loves makeup having a beautiful collection of eye shadows palettes is definitely a must have and I'm sure other girls who love makeup as much as I do could agree.
The most recent popular palettes that every girl is dying to get their hands on is the morphe 350 palette and the urban decay naked collection they are beautiful well pigmented palettes that are also really pricey! The morphe 350 palette sells on their website for 22$ (I know what you're thinking 22$ isn't expensive at all) but morphe is an American company their only location is in California and their products don't sell in Sephora and they also don't ship internationally so after paying the price of the palette and the shipping fees this palette will cost you almost 70$. Don't be fooled the urban decay naked collection isn't any less expensive considering it sells in sephoras the naked
collection has 3 platelets with beautiful colors, to look good with any skin tone you are. Each palette is around 56$. Both super stunning palettes but both are super pricey which is why I was excited when I found a palette similar to the urban decay naked 2 Palette.

The nudes by maybeline is practically identical to the urban decay naked 2 palette, same beautiful colors for a price way cheaper than the other one, this product sells for 9$ at any drug store and works just as well. it's easy to apply the only downside about this palette is it isn't as pigmented as the naked platelets therefore you'd have to apply more of the product to get better results. Using a primer before applying is highly recommended to keep the eye shadow looking flawless all day without fading.

splurge vs bargain - eyebrow edition

Having beautiful, thick, dark eyebrows has been a trend in the recent years. Every girl wants their eyebrows on fleek, in fact many girls trying to get this look will spend tremendous amounts of money on products like eyebrow gel, eyebrow makers and pencils. the most recent and popular product that girls are using for their brows are Anastasia Beverly Hills dip brow pomade which sells for 18,00$ on their website; http://www.anastasiabeverlyhills.com/brows.html Perhaps at retail stores like sephora and ulta this products sells for 23$ plus the cost of the brush to apply the product which is another 23$. So in total girls will be spending almost 50$ on two products which is pretty expensive. From experience Anastasia Beverly Hills dip brow pomade is an amazing product and usually last for about 4-5 months depending how often I use it perhaps I cant always afford to spend that much money when I run out of it, that's why i was pretty excited when I found similar products to this one at a lower cost.

the NYX tame and frame dip brow is in every way just as great as the Anastasia one, its well pigmented, also comes in 5 different shades to match the colour of your brows  as well from experience this product blends easily and lasts all day. To add NYX tame and frame dip brow is 100% water proof. The NYX product sells for 9$ which is more than half the price of the Anastasia one. With that being said I really recommend switching  to the cheaper version of the ABV dip brow.
